"No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you." Joshua 1:5
Do you feel abandoned, deserted, or rejected by someone you totally trusted and loved--your husband or wife? I know how you feel. Every day allow your Lord to meet your every need, He will never leave or forsake you.
I believe that this word, "abandoned" explains how you may feel with your emotions and feelings so frequently. Your spouse has said and may still be saying in so many different ways, that they do not love you or want to be married to you anymore. I know that there is a pain that you have in your heart that you cannot describe, that you cannot stand and you want it removed. It is the wounding of the abandonment or rejection that you have sustained from your loved one.
Your heart has been broken in two. All the words that have been said have wounded and cut into your heart. Today allow your Lord God, right now, to become the great Physician and Counselor who can heal your broken and wounded heart. Today read Isaiah 54:4-17 which I believe will encourage you right now that has so many promises for you and your family.
"For your Maker is your husband- the LORD Almighty is his name- the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth. The LORD will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit-a wife who married young, only to be rejected," says your God. "For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back." Isaiah 54:5-7
"To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again. Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD , who has compassion on you." Isaiah 54:9-10
"If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you. No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD , and this is their vindication from me," declares the LORD ." Isaiah 54:15,17
What is the meaning of "abandon?" In the dictionary it says: To give up (something) completely or forever; to leave,... forsake; desert; SYN.-- Abandon implies leaving a person or thing, either as a final, necessary measure or as a complete rejection of one's responsibilities.
When I look up meaning of words I am always amazed how the meaning always magnifies the true explanation and meaning of the word. When you start to study the world "abandon," you can find mankind was abandoned in Genesis Chapter 6 by God. Only because of Noah being a righteous and blameless man was he chosen by God to build an ark to save his family.
"The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth-men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air-for I am grieved that I have made them." But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD ." Genesis 6:5-8
May you and I praise the Lord that God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ to die for all the sins of the world which were the same as they were in Genesis living in immorality, ungodliness, and violence. This is just another reason that you and I need to become burdened about our loved ones who are blatantly living in sin. May you and I be challenged to become a Noah, choosing to pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. (2 Timothy 2:22)
"But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul. When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the LORD your God and obey him. For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your forefathers, which he confirmed to them by oath." Deuteronomy 4:29-31
Throughout the Bible we read about God's children being abandoned or rejected. How many can you think of right now? I will get you started with Joseph who was abandoned, deserted and forsaken by his brothers. Have you read this story recently? (Genesis 37- 50) May the Lord teach you much through this child who had a dream, shared it and suffered for a season in his life only to be used mightily by His God to saved his father and brothers years later!
I pray that today will be the beginning of your healing if you were abandoned, forsaken or deserted, even by a parent, when you were a child. Allow your Lord God to heal you today regardless of your circumstances. God knows everything about you!
"Hear my voice when I call, O LORD ; be merciful to me and answer me. My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD , I will seek. Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, O God my Savior. Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me. Teach me your way, O LORD ; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors." Psalm 27:7-11
Have you thought of anyone else that was abandoned, rejected or forsaken? I hope you have thought of your Lord Jesus Christ! He knows how you feel more than anyone else. He had to bear all our sins upon His body at the cross for us to receive eternal life. Go to Him and allow Him to pick you up in His arms and love you like you have never been loved before! He will never leave or forsake you!
