The Fourth of July Celebration

"On July 3, 1776, following the signing of the Declaration of Independence, John Adams wrote to his wife, reflecting on what he had shared in Congress concerning the importance of that day: The second day of July 1776 will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward.

"You will think me transported with enthusiasm, but I am not. I am well aware of the toil and blood and treasure that it will cost to maintain this Declaration and support and defend these States. Yet through all the gloom I can see the rays of ravishing light and glory. I can see that the end is worth more than all the means; that posterity will triumph in that day's transaction, even though we (may regret) it, which I trust in God we shall not."

Taken from "The American Patriot's Bible, (subtitled) The Word of God and The Shaping of America," Dr. Richard G. Lee, General Editor

(This is an excellent Bible for any student or Christian that wants to learn American History in the midst of scriptures with beautiful pictures of our Nation from 1776.)

Thank You, Lord for our freedom! Let us pray that freedom will ring throughout all our churches across the United States this very day to thank the Lord for the freedom that each of us have as Americans! I pray that every church will stand up and sing the songs that our country has held so dear to our hearts for so many generation such as: "The Star-Spangled Banner, My Country, 'Tis of Thee, America, The Beautiful, and Battle Hymn of the Republic." Have we given up the tradition to sing these songs on July 4th? I pray not.

July 4th is a legal holiday in the United States, called Independence Day. This July 4th is a Sunday where millions of people will be praising, praying and worshiping their Lord for their freedom. I pray that thousands of men of God will preach God's Word regarding that there is freedom in Jesus Christ and that we all need to pray for all the prodigal spouses, children, our loved ones and friends to be set free from the bondages of sin this Lord's Day.

"I, the Lord have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness." Isaiah 42:6-7

May we remember how in the United States we are ever so quietly been losing our freedom by not being able to pray in public schools, by not being able to have the Ten Commandments displayed in many public and government buildings. May we not become deceived and not fight for our freedom. Let us pray and fight for the sanctity of marriage for one man and one women to be married as ordained by God in Genesis and throughout the Bible.

We need to pray regularly for our freedom and our independence. Pray for our Nation and all other countries who have terrorists trying to destroy people's freedom. Pray for all our leaders to have God's wisdom, knowledge and understanding. We need to pray for God's will and His way for all people around the world. May each of us pray for peace and safety for our military and contractors who are out protecting our freedom as well as fighting for other people's freedom.

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Galatians 5:1

What does independence mean? In the dictionary it states, "The state of quality of being independent; freedom from the influence, control or determination of another or others."

As we celebrate this holiday, I challenge you to pray for your spouse's independence, their freedom. They are like a prisoner who was blinded and deceived by the enemy, satan. You need to remember that your spouse is in a spiritual battle, not of flesh and blood, but a battle with the enemy, satan.

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Ephesians 6:12

Many of you are thinking, "My spouse left because they wanted their freedom!" May I ask you a question? Are they free? I believe and know with all my heart that each of them would admit that deep in their heart they are more a prisoner today than when they lived at their own home. They are in bondage to the enemy, to many sins and someone else's control more than ever before. Pray today that your spouse will humble themselves and call on "the name of Jesus." He WILL set them free, nothing is too hard for Him.

"....The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind." Psalm 146:7-8

May you and I never give up on our Lord Jesus Christ who has paid the price for you and your spouse's salvation. The Lord will leave ninety-nine righteous people to go after the one lost sheep. May this encourage you and know that your Lord will never stop calling and going after your spouse or lost loved ones.

Today let's pray for ALL prodigal spouses, children and loved ones that they will be set free from the bondages of sins (adultery, pornography, alcohol, and drugs, etc.) the chains of sins that are keeping them in captivity. May this holiday weekend, they hear their Commander In Chief, calling their name to "Come Home, I have paid the price for ALL your sins. There is freedom in Christ."

"To say to the captives, 'Come out,' and to those in darkness, 'Be free'!" Isaiah 49:9a
