"There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world." John 1:6-9
Do you know that you were chosen by God to stand in the gap for your marriage to be restored? Have you been accepting that assignment? This week I read John Chapter 1 as suggested in my Daily Bible Reading Calendar. Let me remind you of John the Baptist's commission given to his father, Zechariah, before he was born by an angel of the Lord telling him to name his son, John and he would be filled with the Holy Spirit from birth. John's assignment was to preach to the people of Israel the need for repentance.
"Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. But the angel said to him: "Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John. He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth. Many of the people of Israel will he bring back to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord." Luke 1:11-17
What an assignment to go before the Lord, filled with the Holy Spirit to be a preacher of moral righteousness. John's ministry was preaching about sin, righteousness and judgment. He would bring many people back to the Lord.
"In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the Desert of Judea and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near." This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: "A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.' "...I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire." Matthew 3:1-3,11
John the Baptist was chosen by God to be the forerunner prior to Jesus revealing Himself as the Lamb of God. God also chose John to have the privilege and honor to baptize His only Son.
"Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?" Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness." Then John consented. As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." Matthew 3:13-17
This Sunday in March let us never doubt that the Lord wants you and your beloved husband or wife and children to repent and live a Christlike life. Today be responsible for yourself and your children. Every day pray that many prodigals will sense the Holy Spirit's conviction and repent wherever they may be. That is God's plan of salvation for all sinners to repent.
Today worship and praise the Lord. Then thank your Lord Jesus that He died on the cross shedding His Blood for all sinners. Never doubt that Jesus is working in your spouse's life and in all prodigals' lives around the world calling them to repentance all the time. Jesus was born to seek and save the lost.
"Jesus answered them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Luke 5:31-32
Let us pray that this Lord's Day around the world that all men of God will be preaching about the life of our Lord Jesus. That He died at Calvary, but arose three days later as we will celebrate on Resurrection Sunday in April.
"Lord, please bring all Your lost children home today in the mighty name of Jesus. I am praying in agreement with many standers around the world for many husbands, wives, and prodigal childrens' hearts to be touched and transformed radically by repenting of their sins today and that they will turn their hearts toward home suddenly and right away.
"Lord, speak loudly to all your prodigals who are in the far country entangled in their web of sin. We praise you that nothing is too hard for you to do. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen."
"Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." Revelation 3:19-22
