"Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless. With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies." Psalm 60:11-12
I am sure if you are an employee you know your benefits, regardless of where you are working. If you are an employer, you too, also know the benefits that you give your employees, plus the cost to your company. Great benefits from an employer is truly a blessing from God. I pray that today you will realize the benefits that you have as a child of God. If you have not known God's benefits you will before this devotional series is done.
How often do we hear from the media about the many different companies that are reducing or taking away benefits that their employees have been receiving? This is often due to the cost of the benefits and the many companies that are losing so much money, so they are having to make drastic cuts to the employees' benefits so that they can keep the company in business and not have to lay off employees.
I want you to know that your Lord God will not take away any of your benefits as a child of God. Yesterday I discussed the benefits of knowing you have eternal life by personally knowing Jesus Christ as Savior of your life.
Today I want to highlight the benefit of knowing your Lord God as the Deliverer. I am sure each one of us could tell a story from the Bible that shows the mighty hand of God delivering a person from a perilous trial. Our Lord is your Deliverer and your Protector. He will deliver you from a prison of circumstances that you are now living in due to marriage problems or He will rescue you and your family from the evil one, Satan. Throughout the Bible, we read how God became the Deliverer for Noah, for Moses, for Elijah, for David, for Daniel, for Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, for Jesus, for the Apostles, for Paul and many more. May you be encouraged today that your Lord God wants to go and deliver your spouse and prodigal children from their bondages of sin and Satan's prison.
"When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he called out the 318 trained men born in his household and went in pursuit as far as Dan. During the night Abram divided his men to attack them and he routed them, pursuing them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus. He recovered all the goods and brought back his relative Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the other people." Genesis 14:14-16
Abram heard that his family had been taken captive. Is that not what has happened to your spouse? Will you stand firm, seeking the Lord for His divine intervention and help of what you are to do in rescuing your beloved spouse from the lies, the tricks and schemes of Satan who blinded and deceived your husband or wife or children? Your Lord will give you instructions as He gave Noah instructions how to build an ark to save his family.
Do not forget about the Burning Bush experience that Moses had with God. May you not forget that Moses was chosen by God to lead God's people out of Egypt and into the Promised Land. Moses was part of God's plan in delivering His children from the Egyptians. Though Moses was hesitant to accept God's call on his life, he obeyed God and led the Israelites out of Egypt. God had heard His children crying out for God's help, His deliverance because of their circumstances of slavery.
"There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, "I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up." When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, "Moses! Moses!" And Moses said, "Here I am." "Do not come any closer," God said, "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground." Then he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob." At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God. The LORD said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt." Exodus 14:2-10
Never doubt that your Lord hears your cries and He is going to be the Deliverer for your marriage, for your spouse, for your prodigal children and for your lost loved ones. He wants you to be a witness showing others the tremendous benefits of God. Are you willing to accept God's special assignment for you regarding restoration of your marriage with your husband or wife as Moses accepted his assignment from God to take the Israelites to the Promised Land? Will you choose to listen, obey and follow God's commands regarding your marriage forever?
We serve a powerful, awesome, mighty God. He loves and cares about you, but He also cares about your spouse who is in the far country. May you know today the benefits that you have as a child of God every day as He will be your rock, your fortress and your Deliverer from all your enemies.
"I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies." Psalm 18:1-3
Throughout the Bible we read the words, "deliver, deliverer, delivered and deliverance." These are powerful words when you realize your Lord rescues, or delivers, His children from evil. Deliver in the dictionary means; "To set free or save from evil, danger or delivered from bondage."
Praise the Lord! Our Lord, the Deliverer, can go and set your spouse free from the temptations of the world and from the bondages of sin. God has a plan for His children to be delivered and a special escape route that will succeed!
"There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord." Proverbs 21:30
What a powerful scripture and statement! Today choose to believe in the mighty power of your Lord God to become the Deliverer for your spouse so that your marriage can be restored and rebuilt on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. Do not be discouraged, but praise your Lord that you know your benefits of God as the only one WHO can go and rescue your spouse from the darkness that they are living in. God is going to be your Deliverer!
"From the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people." Psalm 3:8
