Cry Out To Your "Abba" Father

There are few things in God's Word that seem more emphasized than His promise to come to the rescue of His children who cry out to Him. Those who have children know the instant reaction that overcomes a parent when hearing the honest cry for help from their child. God tells us that by the work of Jesus, we can cry out "Abba [Daddy]." Will God not respond to our cries?

Please make sure today that God Almighty will hear your cries. Do you know Jesus? If you cry out, confess your sin and accept what Jesus DID on the cross to give you a way into God's family, then God will be your Abba father today.

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

The basic rules of having God's ear open to your prayers are this: humble yourself, earnestly seek God's direction and be willing to follow His instructions and turn from your own agenda. There are no magic words to say, but the state of one's heart will make clear whether you are surrendering all to the Lord, or whether are you holding back. I think the great encouragement the Lord has for us today is that if we are surrendered to Him, we can just cry out with no need to be eloquent or even coherent. Just cry out for His help. He hears the cries of His children!

"The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles." Psalm 34:17

"If calamity comes upon us, whether the sword of judgment, or plague or famine, we will stand in your presence before this temple that bears your Name and will cry out to you in our distress, and you will hear us and save us." "For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you." 2 Chronicles 20:9,12

As I heard one pastor paraphrase Jehoshaphat's cry to the Lord in 2 Chronicles 20, he said Jehoshaphat is basically saying "Oh Lord, we are powerless and clueless, please help us!"

Well, that pretty much sums up how we might cry out for our marriages. Go ahead and cry out to God today. Admit to your heavenly Daddy that you are scared, overpowered, and have no idea what to do. This is often the cry of my heart, and the comfort the Lord is speaking to us today is that He says over and over again in scripture how He will deliver His children when they cry out to Him.

"Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me." Psalm 50:14-15

"But I call to God, and the LORD saves me." Psalm 55:16

"Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him." Psalm 91:14-15

Read Psalm 107 today and note how God is pounding home a very strong message in this psalm. The message is "cry out to the LORD, and he will deliver you from your distress."

"He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them." Psalm 146:19

As painful as a broken marriage is, remember that God made marriage, so He has more at stake than we do in seeing His covenant marriages healed. Remember, we serve the God of the universe. Like a proud and innocent child, we can look into the face of the enemy forces and boldly state "my Dad can beat up your dad!"

We all risk sinking at times as we let the fear and anxiety of the world distract our focus from the power Jesus offers to His followers, but just cry out to Him today.

"But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, 'Lord, save me!' Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. 'You of little faith,' he said, 'why did you doubt?'" Matthew 14:30-31

Let us cry out together, in agreement, and completely surrender to His way of handling our messed up situations. He will rescue you from your troubles, because His Word is at stake. May God move these mountains of trouble in the mighty name of Jesus. And, when God moves a mountain, "...who can reverse it?" Isaiah 43:13

"And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new." Revelation 21:5

Standing in NC and crying out with you all,
David
